Sarah Torhan is a Ph.D. candidate in Water Resources Engineering with a minor in Geography. Her M.S. work focused on climate change adaptation across the food-energy-water nexus, and her Ph.D. research applies mixed methods to understand the impacts of infrastructure and land use change on water security in southeastern Paraguay. She has received several fellowships that have funded her Ph.D, including the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship, Fulbright U.S. Student Program, Boren Awards, and Penn State's university-appointed scholarships. Previously, Sarah received her B.S. in chemical engineering from Penn State, worked in industry, served in the Peace Corps, and spent several years collaborating on environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture initiatives in Paraguay.
